Is this from The Avengers? If so, I’d see it just for this.

Hello (by ant1mat3rie)

This is a pretty epic little supercut of movies edited to where the various characters recite the lyrics of Lionel Richie’s “Hello.”

Cinemetrics is the amazing bachelor graduation project by Frederic Brodbeck.

The project is about measuring and visualizing movie data, in order to reveal the characteristics of films and to create a visual “fingerprint” for them. Information such as the editing structure, color, speech or motion are extracted, analyzed and transformed into graphic representations so that movies can be seen as a whole and easily interpreted or compared side by side.

This is quite the bachelor project!!

He’s selling posters here, and I really want the Top Gun one, but is it worth the dough?

Very Short Film of the Day: To celebrate the 190th anniversary of the chronograph, German luxury goods manufacturer Montblanc and advertising agency Leo Burnett Milan invited filmmakers to capture and submit “one-second-long moving pictures” of moments they considered beautiful.

Many responded, and a showreel of 60 hand-picked clips was crafted (above).

There will be two additional qualification rounds, with 20 clips selected from each round. The 60 finalists will be judged by director Wim Wenders, and one lucky beauty beholder will win a trip to the 2012 Berlinale as well as a Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec chronograph.

May the best second win.

It’s amazing how long a second can seem.

Ugghhh this makes me want to make movies so badly!

That big screen adaptation of Ender’s Game has found its Ender!

The upcoming adaptation of Ender’s Game has found its Ender … and you can get a good look at him about a week from now.
According to Deadline, 14-year-old Asa Butterfield has been offered the title role in the big screen version of Orson Scott Card’s classic 1985 novel.
Who is Butterfield? He’s a British actor who has appeared in movies like The Boy in The Striped Pajamas and Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, but is about to become much better known as the title character in Hugo, director Martin Scorsese’s 3D period fantasy.
Hugo opens six days from now, on November 23rd, so you’ll have a chance to take a good, long look at the young man who will almost certainly play one of sci-fi’s most beloved characters of the past 30 years. Once Butterfield’s deal is official, we’re sure that more casting announcements will be on the way.
Production is scheduled to begin next year to meet the film’s March 15th, 2013 release date, with X-Men Origins: Wolverine director Gavin Hood behind the camera. How does Orson Scott Card himself feel about his book finally being adapted? Pretty darn good.

I’m excited about this. I hope they can do it justice.

This is awesome if you grew up in the 80’s and early 90’s.

One commenter said: “This will be played on the walls of every party I ever throw for all time,” and I can’t think of anything more perfect than that.

New Andrew Bird: “Night Sky”

“Night Sky,” Andrew Bird’s post-Noble Beast live favorite (formerly known on Fingerlings 4 as “The Sifters”), finally got the studio treatment via Norman, a coming-of-age film hitting theaters this month that boasts an original score by Bird along with contributions from Wolf Parade, Chad VanGaalen, and Richard Swift. As of today, the entire OST is streaming here — complete with beautifully arranged instrumentals and a few vocal tunes, such as “Arcs and Coulombs” and the aforementioned standout cut featured above.

Best lines:

What if we hadn’t been born at the same time? What if you were 75 and I were 9? Would I still visit you? Bring you cookies in an old folks’ home. Would you be there alone?

“Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” First Trailer (by upandcomersnet)

The book isn’t always better than the movie. Though it might not be the case with this story, there’s really something about the power of films—the images and the sounds—that imagining can’t match. I got chills when they showed the Towers and started the U2 song. I don’t care if I’m a cornball, I’m excited about this.
